Volunteer to assist the Elks Run Study Committee

The Elks Run Study Committee meets on the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 at the Boliver Community Center. Letter writing, planning for the annual stream walk, planning and writing grants, and educational outreach are just a few of the activities sponsored by the Committee. Contact us at 304-535-2503

Volunteer to help monitor the stream

You and some friends can volunteer to be a water monitoring team, checking stream conditions, assess stream health and collect data on aquatic biodiversity at defined sites each month.

Be a watchdog for watershed problems

If you see a problem, there are several ways to notify the appropriate person.

Speak up and let local, state, and federal representatives know that clean water is important

Write letters to influential people and offices. State legislators and agency officials have a central role in setting water policies. The Jefferson County Planning Commission and the zoning board are responsible for land use, including comprehensive planning, definition of zoning districts (such as residential, commercial, and industrial sections of town), and subdivision regulations.
